Cube Aim Disc SL 26 Electric bike Conversion

by MikeGrow3698
Just received the brand new shiney Cube Aim Disc SL 26 2014 bike to converted into an electric bike.

This will take place early next year as we are waiting for a kit for review from Panda Bikes in the UK. This is the 350 Watt front wheel kit with a tube battery. The extra weight on the front will actually help this bike.

I took it out on the North downs over the weekend to try it out prior to converting it into an electric bike. I have to say that it s going to help no end having a motor on there. The climb to the top of the North downs is very steep and extra power will help me get to the top :)

The way the bike is at the moment and given that I have 50 year old legs, I had to stop a couple of times. The climb goes from 50 Mtrs above sea level to about 160 Mtrs in approx 0.5 of a mile and you feel it big time!

Will give more info and updates as we start the conversion.

Standard spec of bike before conversion:

A reliable hardtail with a comfortable seating position, efficient 24 speed transmission and extended capabilities thanks to the Shimano 395 disc brakes. The Aluminium Lite 6061 frame features Cube's Frame Save System consisting of a replaceable derailleur hanger with thread in the hanger.

It is specially designed for use with disc brakes and the cross-ovalized down tube is manufactured using Cube's Advanced Mechanical forming process, designed for high durability. RFR geometry delivers a comfortable riding position due to a shorter top tube.

The Aim SL 26 includes an easy-rolling wheelset with Shimano Centrelock hubs, DT Swiss spokes and ZX 24 rims. Also included are a 100mm travel Suntour XCT 29 suspension fork with lockout, Shimano 3x8 components with Alivio rear derailleur and a Scape Active 8 saddle for plenty of comfort on longer rides.

Quality parts like the CUBE Rise Trail Bar, CUBE stem and CUBE Performance Post complete the package.
